Navy Expeditionary Medal – Video
The Navy Expeditionary Medal was authorized on August 5, 1936. The medal is awarded to members of the Navy who have engaged in operations against armed opposition in foreign territory or have served in situations warranting special recognition where no other campaign medal was awarded. Many operations have qualified for the award, beginning (retroactively) with operations by Navy and Marine Corps personnel in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1874 and culminating in the operations involving the attack on the USS Cole between 2000 and 2002.

Vietnam Campaign Medal – Video
The Vietnam Campaign Medal (VCM) was established by the Government of the Republic of Vietnam on May 12, 1964 and authorized for award to members of the United States Armed Forces by the Department of Defense on June 20, 1966. To qualify for this award, personnel must have 6 months service in the Republic of Vietnam between 1961 and 1973 or if wounded, captured or killed in action during the above period. Many examples of this medal are found with devices inscribed with other dates but the only version authorized for U.S. personnel is the one with the bar inscribed “1960 — “

National Defense Service Medal Video
The National Defense Service Medal (NDSM) was initially authorized by executive order on April 22, 1953. It is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces for any honorable active federal service during the Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Shield/Desert Storm and/or Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
The criteria to receive this award is to have 120 consecutive days of service participating in, or any honorable active duty service during any of the above periods.
