Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal

News from the front:

The President has signed off on the new campaign medal:  Inherent Resolve. , OSD has not approve the final guidance since the initial specifications were focused on the fighting in Iraq and Syria  however, we know that there are a number of units deployed in Africa. I expect the authorized area of award to be expanded as the details are finalized. The fine arts commission has approved the design of the  campaign  medal and Col. will send me color pictures of the medal’s approved design as soon as he is authorized to release them.

He does not expect any sales of the new campaign medal to be available until May.

Check with medalsofamerica.com for availability.

I do not know if they will backdate any of these device awards or what the dates will be for the new inherent resolve campaign medal.

The memorandum for the IRCM states that ” The sacrifices and contributions of the members of our Armed Forces battling terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria merit special recognition. The IRCM provides distinct recognition to those Service members who are serving, or have served, in Iraq, Syria, or contiguous waters or airspace on or after June 15, 2014…”

The GWOT Expeditionary Medal is no longer given to recognize service in Iraq and Syria for Operation Inherent Resolve. Period of June 15, 2014 and on qualify for the new IRCM. And you cannot have both awarded for the same thing.

Looks like the award will be placed directly after the Iraq Campaign in order of precedence.

If Congress doesn’t want to award credit where it’s due, then all of the service members supporting said mission in outlying nations should just stop supporting said country. Afterward, when the mission fails, they’ll change their minds about who they’re selectively rewarding with the corresponding campaign medals. it’s ridiculous how they keep doing this and sticking people with the general Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal.
